Terminal Caribe In every new beginning is the dawn of a new end And in every new ending is the brink of a descent Into that hazy hollow where dreams and demons meld Weaving and winding their ways back to sunlit highlands And so begins this story, like so many before Two young, starry-eyed souls meet and set out to explore A new world they have long been seeking and yearning for Off they sail into the sea with a song or two and more

Wandering Song A wise man I met has told me that once you leave, you cannot go home Twenty years into this journey, I am still strolling along An outsider here as much as I am on any part of the world No illusions of lost glory, I am still singing my song Gotta feel it, gotta feel it Nowhere to seek or hide No promise of a search onward I have no place to guard Gotta hear it, gotta hear it When that moment comes Lean upon the earth and listen That’s where we all belong Through all these years that I have wandered across the land and the sea Alone with questions and the wind to keep me company Even at times the moon felt too heavy and the night too long I woke up to each new morning to keep singing my song Gotta feel it, gotta feel it Nowhere to seek or hide No promise of a search onward I have no place to guard Gotta hear it, gotta hear it When that moment comes Lean upon the earth and listen That’s where we all belong

No Return 05:07
No Return Time to leave this island again Our ceaseless search for new shores began Like many restless wanderers before Who reached this land with a thirst for more We longed for water to grow our budding hearts Knowing our time has come, we lovingly depart Many days we stumbled along Many waves we rode alone Many nights we pondered upon Distant sands to build a dream on Like many restless wanderers before Who reached this land with a thirst for more We longed for water to grow our budding hearts Knowing our time has come, we lovingly depart Many days we stumbled along Many waves we rode alone If you ask “why tell me this”, allow me to explain I don’t need no sympathy, but I do want a friend Like many restless wanderers before Who reached this land with a thirst for more We longed for water to grow our budding hearts Knowing our time has come, we lovingly depart

about

Album Description:

Terminal Caribe is the newest album of Santi & Tuğçe who weave timeless, borderless melodies with global, dance floor rhythms. Similar to their previous releases which take listeners on a sonic adventure all the way from the coasts of the Black Sea to the Parana River, Terminal Caribe presents a peculiarly personal, yet undoubtedly universal odyssey exploring the deep interrelations between music, movement, and memory. Named after a bus stop where the duo had the initial inkling for this album, Terminal Caribe serves as the point of departure for an entrancing journey through a wildly varied world of sound. Soulful melodies, captivating harmonies, colorful orchestration, polyrhyhmic percussions and marimbas, and deep bass lines combine with heartwarming vocals and the sounds of sea to tell a tale that is at once epic, melancholic, spacy and irresistibly groovy.

Santi (from Asunción, Paraguay) and Tuğçe (from Istanbul, Turkey) left their homes to follow their dreams of music and have been road companions and musical partners for more than a decade. They collaborated on two full length-albums, four EPs and numerous singles which captivated listeners worldwide. With their 2016 EP El Regreso del Gallito, “Santi & Tuğçe rewrote Paraguayan folklore” (Thump Vice, Brazil) and with their Songs for My Grandmother, selected as one of the best albums from Turkey in 2017 by Beehype, they remade Turkish classics for contemporary audiences. Drawing on their eclectic background and constant pulse for innovation, Santi & Tuğçe once again reinvent an unpredictable and enticing soundscape of the Caribbean and beyond.
